August 12, 1978 best friends Daryl Barber (19) and Jim Boucher (16) set out on a week long vacation road trip in Daryl's red Chevy Nova. They were headed to Daytona Beach, Florida from Metamora, Michigan. When they failed to return home, their parents jumped into actions, calling the cops, hiring a private investigator, and even writing letters to governors and other elected officials.
